Black holes in education


Black holes at the national physics teacher conference (WND 2025) 

On 12th & 13th December 2025 physics teachers from across the Netherlands will have the chance to learn about different societal engagement projects within the consortium at the annual physics teacher conference in Noordwijkerhout. Teachers can take part in a hands-on workshop showcasing interactive educational materials designed to teach reasoning skills such as systems thinking using topics related to black holes led by the Smart Education Lab from the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. And for teachers keen to help in the search for new black holes, watch out for the talk about the consortium’s Black Hole Finder app!

Black holes & education at the KNA-teacher day in Nijmegen

On November 5th 2025, the Royal Dutch Astronomical Society (KNA) organised it’s second workshop for teachers interested in astronomy at Radboud University in Nijmegen. Alongside a number of talks on cutting-edge topics, teachers also took part in a hands-on workshop showcasing interactive educational materials designed to teach reasoning skills such as systems thinking using topics related to black holes led by the Smart Education Lab from the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences.
